With a Masters in Fine Arts from The University of Notre Dame, Nick melds a professional background in Studio Art with innovative product design. Nick is represented in our showroom as co-owner of Mercantile 37, Farmstead Ironworks, and EM Meld Co.

Knot & Thread was started after my son and I continued our tradition of creating handmade Christmas gifts for our family. A few years ago, we made rope baskets and I fell in love with them; simple, fresh, beautiful and functional. So, I created Knot & Thread because the more I made, the more I adored them and wanted to share them with others!

Henrik Søderstrøm is an artist, designer, and idea enthusiast based in Marion, Indiana, where he teaches at IWU and collaborates on community-centered ideas at Marion Design Co, a socially driven design studio that applies design focused research into action. Henrik loves the potential that art and design have to unfurl and vivify the way people perceive the world around them and their relationship to it.

Inscribed Moments

Shelly and Kaitlyn are a fun-loving mother-daughter design duo from Marion, Indiana. Kaitlyn had gone to school for architecture and fell in love with using the laser cutters to build models and always joked about owning one of her own one day. Shelly suggested they buy one and make a business out of it and with that Inscribed Moments was born. Now they strive to create laser cut and engraved home décor, event décor, and gifts that match their customers’ unique personality and style.

Kaitlan Vosler

Cream & Concrete is the passion project of Kaitlan Vosler. She has always made products for friends and family and is finally ready to share them with the world. Kaitlan and her husband Brook are graduates of Grace College and now live in Northern Indianapolis with a studio space set up in their garage. Cream & Concrete seeks to make functional home decor items that make your space beautiful, simple, and clean. Concrete, yarn, and wood are a few of the mediums Kaitlan works with while maintaining a light and neutral color pallet that is easy on the eyes.

John Bundy

Bundy Duck Decoys

John Bundy is a lifelong resident of Hamilton County, Indiana.  The Bundy’s have been here since 1847 and in America since 1662, a dozen generations of craftsman working in leather, metal, and, wood.  He and his wife started Bundy Duck Decoys 40 years ago, creating unique wooden carvings, now the last wooden decoy carving factory left.  While decoys carved in the last century were made to hunt ducks, Bundy Ducks are Folk Art for the 2lst Century and are created with the collector in mind.  In a world of imports, consider a gift of an original piece of handmade art.  Several of the decoys displayed at Mercantile 37 are carved from rare woods from Hamilton County.

Woven and Wool is owned and operated by Megan Campbell out of Lafayette, Indiana. She’s been creating hand embroidery pieces for as long as she can remember. Growing up in the South this was a tradition passed on to her by her grandmothers. Now she creates do-it-yourself embroidery kits that are great for both the beginner and the seasoned artist. This business allows her to work from home with her young daughter and a portion of each sale helps provide resources for low income women in her community.

Art has always been an integral part of my life.  My father instilled a love of nature in me with his beautiful landscape drawings and paintings.  He taught me how to paint by being observant and embracing the beauty of nature around me.  Learning to observe the world around me, with the attention to detail that was required in painting, guided my interest in collecting semi-precious gemstones.  Living in Michigan, Seattle, Arizona, Indiana and traveling extensively has exposed me to a variety of inspirational natural resources and semi-precious stones such as jasper, agate, quartz, turquoise and many more.

My name is Meagan Gilner and I am the creator and designer for The Brocade Blackbird, greeting cards and paper goods.  My designs are sweet and simple, lighthearted, humorous, and something I hope most can relate to.  My favorite thing about creating and sharing greeting cards is being able to produce a reaction.  A smile, a laugh or a nudge to an accompanied browser, and knowing that something I created helped foster it, is beyond fulfilling.  And remember, a little “snail mail” can go a long way!

Hello! My name is Bekah Kaluf and I am the maker behind The Purple Gerber. The idea for my business started after my husband Kevin and I got married in June 2015, when I realized I no longer had a reason to craft and create. What started with chalk painted mason jars and refinished furniture has now evolved into custom built farmhouse furniture, shelves, and other home décor (thanks to the carpentry skills of my husband Kevin). We are thrilled to be a part of Mercantile 37 and be in the company of so many talented Hoosier makers.

Hartley Handmade

Hartley Handmade is the creative outlet for Joe and Becky Hartley, rural Marion residents.

Joe is keeping tradition alive as a 3rd generation broom maker, using equipment that has been in his family for over 100 years.

Becky inherited her love of fabric crafting from her mother.  She enjoys the process of creating quality quilts and table runners using new and upcycled fabrics.  Her quilts are meant to be beautiful and functional.

Beth Roberts

Reclaimed and Recovered

Beth and Jeff Roberts and their daughter Grace have lived east of Atlanta for 19 years and have been residents of Hamilton County practically their entire lives. She considers herself to be two-thirds through a self-taught apprenticeship in upholstery, learning many new things with every project, and seldom refuses the offer of old cushions, pillows, or upholstery fabric. Most of her work comes by word of mouth and she focuses on renewing well-made and well-loved pieces, preferring those which can be carried upstairs to her workspace. The opportunity to find pieces and select fabric to renew and refresh furniture to sell at the Mercantile is an honor, both exciting and terrifying!

My name is Christine Erny and I am a contemplative artist who believes that, in all of life, presence and process are what is most important. Recycled book journals are one of 
my favorite things to make! I love taking discarded books and recreating them into something that is not only beautiful, but invites others to the process of creativity through writing, drawing or journaling. No matter what I am creating or calling others to, the invitation is: be present and beauty will follow! Split Cedar Studios is a venture and family partnership celebrating creativity, fine craftsmanship, art, design, and business. Split Cedar Studios has designed and realized numerous projects, including sculpture, quilts, costumes, furniture, signage, graphic images, photography, stage sets and props, logos, and home accessories. The principals in this venture (husband Doug and wife Laura) are both professional artists and educators. The two were "makers, designers, and builders" before there was a DIY movement.

Growing up, I was always making things with my hands and I enjoyed learning new hobbies and techniques; two of those crafts I fell in love with and today I sew handbags and create colorful jewelry. My passion for color is the inspiration behind the things I create. I hope to be an encouragement to live and embrace a colorful life; the highs.. the lows and every color in between.

Lisa never imagined not working and being a stay at home Mom, until one day that calling became more clear than ever. After 18 years of having a sales career she took that leap of faith, quit her job and began to stay home with her (then) 4 year old son Jagger for that last year before he began kindergarten. It was Lisa’s desire to stay connected outside of her new full time job as a Mom as well as teach Jagger the importance of working for things. These desires brought them to start a business together in which they tag "KID INSPIRED, MOTHER APPROVED". Loving bath bombs but disapointed with all the chemicals in most bath bombs on the market, they created a bath bomb business that both kids and parents would love.

Hi! I’m Nancy Lower, the maker behind NanSea Made. While vacationing with my husband, beach-combing and searching for sea glass became my favorite past time. All of my artwork is created with natural sea glass and driftwood we have found along different beaches around the world.

I’m so thankful that JR and Kelly have been so encouraging and gracious to provide me an outlet at Mercantile 37 to share my new passion.

Strawtown Garden Girl

I took my love of flowers and started Strawtown Garden Gals out of my home in 2015. I grew this “mom and pop” passion project to a full-blown side business, boasting 35 regular customers for whom I maintain the art of their landscape beds and planters. I find great delight in making whimsical planters and succulent creations. I treasure taking vintage containers, that some would consider unusable, and turning them into beautiful works of botanical art. I enjoy sharing my knowledge by hosting fairy garden workshops and flower arrangement classes.

I am a lifelong resident of Hamilton County. In my spare time, I cherish spending time with my two precious grandchildren!

I’m Kristen Owen, the owner of The Pink Macaroon. I live in Franklin, IN with my husband and our two children. I create felt floral home decor with an emphasis in floral stems. I love to create timeless pieces and that can be shared with family and friends.

Alexandra Geske

Alexandra Geske is a full time sculptor and woodworker. She studied at Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, IN and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in furniture design. After graduating, she continued her pursuit of this craft with various artist-in-residencies, fellowships and employment at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Penland School of Crafts and Marc Adams School of Woodworking.

She currently resides in downtown Indianapolis with her son and tries to find a balance between single motherhood and finding time in the studio to explore her creativity and fine tune her skills.

I'm Bob Council and I make metal art.  Most of my creations will be found in the “Man Cave”.  I have been a welder for over 40 years and about ten years ago I began tinkering in the garage to see what I could create. Everything I make is made from recycled materials found at the metal scrap yard, various gears from cars and motorcycles and old tools and faucet knobs found at flea markets.
